According to the letter of Stephen L. Ross, Jesse and family moved from Anson Co. in 1814 to what is now Decatur Co. TN. All of his children were born in Anson Co. NC. He was bequeathed 300 acres of land in Anson Co. in three tracts, which he must have disposed of before leaving. The 1820 census of Perry Co. TN shows Jesse head of a household. Stephen Ross writes: "Uncle Jessie Lacy died in Decatur County about 1820. He was supposed to have died in consequence of his being very fleshy, died of suffocation."
The 1810 census shows: 1 male under 10 The 1820 census shows: 1 male to 10 |
