Will of Moses Stegall

Of Anson County (Union County), North Carolina In the name of God, Amen. I, Moses Stegall, being in sound mind, blessed be God, doth this tenth day of April in the year of 1835 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner as follows:

First, I give to my son George Stegall, one dollar to be raised out of my estate
-2- I give to my son, James Stegall, one dollar to be raised out of my estate
-3- I give to my daughter, Martha Sharp, one dollar to be raised out of my estate
-4- I give to my daughter, Nancy Griffin, one dollar to be raised out of my estate
-5- I give to my daughter, Elizabeth Treadway, one dollar to be raised out of my estate.

I will that my property as follows to wit: One Negro Man named Jacob, one hundred ninety-five acres of land on the crooked prong of Jack's Branch, 10 acres on Negrohead Creek, one horse beast called Dick, four cows, three calves, three sows and twelve pigs, two brds [beds?] and furniture and all my work tools and c and c [corn and cotton] to be sold after my death and equally divided among my sons and daughters as follows: Solomon Stegall, William Stegall, John Stegall, Thomas Stegall, and Frances Griffin, and I hereby make and ordain my friend, Thomas Griffin, executor to do this my last will and testament, set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said, Moses Stegall, the testator, as his last will and testament in the presence of Enoch Griffin.
