In the 1870 census, John Kent is listed as John F. Preslar in the household of his stepfather, William A. Preslar. In the 1880 census, Malissa Casey, servant is living in the John Kent household. In the 1920 census, John F. Kent is living in the household of W. Frank Brook in Tiptonville. Kent, John F. (The Lexington Progress, November 1, 1935) Dies in Saltillo: John F. Kent, who was eighty years old on the 14th of October, died last Sunday night. The funeral was attended by Lexington relatives, Mrs. Kittie Kent, widow of Frank Kent and her daughter, Mrs. Robert Huntsman.
