Shared note

George Anna Bishop was born in 1851 in Coosa Co. AL. She was the daughter of Amanda Bishop who was either an orphan or a widow. It is not known who George Anna's Father is but she was adopted by James M. Butler when he married Amanda Bishop in 1854. In 1857, George Anna moved with her step-father and mother to Walker Co. AL to live on a land patent acquired by her step-father. In 1861, George Anna moved with the family to northern Alabama. By 1870, George Anna had moved to Decatur Co. TN along with her parents and several siblings.

In 1871, George Anna married T. W. Hill in Decatur Co. TN. They had two known children Mary and Thomas W. both of which apparently died young. T. W. Hill died before 1880.

In 1880, George Anna married the widower, John Henry Jackson. George Anna and John Henry had one daughter Willie Jackson who was born in 1886. John Henry died some time before 1900.

George Anna lived until 1936 and is buried in the Decaturville City Cemetery. During her later years, she lived with her daughter and her husband Arthur Keeton.

James M. Butler is George Anna's stepfather but he claims her as his daughter with the Butler surname in the 1860 and 1880 census. Decatur County, Tennessee History and Families 1846-1996 lists her as Georganna Bishop Jackson.

In the 1920 and 1930 census, George Anna is living in the Arthur Keeton household.
