BOWER, SR. Walter Tate Bower, Sr. - Born December 21, 1919, in Troy, AL, died Friday, July 9, 2010, in his home in Elberta, AL. Mr. Bower was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran serving his country in North Africa, Sicily, Scotland, and the invasion of Normandy, France. He was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Bower served as forward observer directing artillery fire under the command of General George S. Patton, Jr. A proud veteran, loving father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Redden Bower. Survivors include his son, Walter Tate (Amy) Bower, Jr. of Mobile; his daughter, Millie Bower of Elberta; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bower, Julia Bower, Matthew Robinson, and Candice Collins; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens with full military honors to be rendered by the American Legion Post 250 Honor Guard. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com |
