Carmon Montgomery, November 24, 1915 - August 10, 1995, served in the U. S. Army from May 14, 1943 - November 6, 1945 as an Army technician fifth grade. He participated in battles in Normandy, Ardennes Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. Wounded in Luxembourg December 24, 1944 and Germany March 24, 1945. Medals or awards: WWII Victory Medal Medal, American Service Medal, Purple Heart w/1 OLC, EAME Service Medal w/1 Silver Star and Good Conduct Medal.
After he returned home he married Inez Reeves and had three children: Tommy, Debra, and Ronnie. A former sheriff of Decatur County and employed with Lexington Vocational School. His widow, Violet and children reside in Decatur County.
