Franklin D. Maness Franklin D. Maness, 78, of Decaturville, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons after an extensive illness and stay at Westwood Healthcare in Decaturville. Mr. Maness was born November 7, 1932, the son of the late Henry M. and Lucy White Maness. He owned and operated Central Service Station in Decaturville several years prior to being employed at Decaturville Sportswear for 18 years. Mr. Maness later worked construction in organized labor and then at the Saturn plant from 1986-1990. He was a 55 year member of the Masonic Lodge, obtaining his 32nd degree, and was currently a member of Parsons Lodge #586 and attended Concord United Methodist Church. Franklin is survived by three daughters, Annette Gilbert of Decaturville, Lana Gay Douglass and her husband Howard of Lexington and Tommye Kaye Stanfill and her husband Tommy of Jasper; three sons, Geary Maness and his wife Betty of Decaturville, Alan Maness of Parsons and Timothy Shawn Maness of Decaturville; a stepdaughter, Wendy Goff Arnold of Parsons; a twin brother, Tommy Maness and his wife, Betty, of Decaturville; one niece, Ramona Maness; and two former wives, Ruth C. Maness and Shelia Beasley, both of Decaturville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Joel Patrick Patterson, Laura A. Allen, Dustin and Jay Hunter Gilbert and Chelsea R. Douglas; and three great-grandchildren, Gracie and Sophie Allen and Jay Leigh Gilbert. Funeral services were held at Reeds Chapel in Decaturville on Sunday, June 19, 2011 with Steve Douglas officiating. Interment followed at Concord Cemetery near Decaturville. Masonic Rites were observed at the gravesite. |
