Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Rev. W. C. Matthews, died in her 33d year on Christmas eve last, in Choctaw county, Mississippi. She embraced religion, and joined the Methodist Church in early life. From that time until the day of her death, she was an exemplary Christian and devoted follower of that "precious Jesus" whose name she loved so well to speak, and whose goodness to praise, when her soul was filled with His heavenly love. On that beautiful evening, just as the sun went down, her happy, precious should left its sick tenement of lay, for climes where the sun never sets and where death never comes. We love thee, sweet sister; but, we will not grieve after thee; we only hope to go where thou hast gone. All is well with thee; but, alas, that little cottage in which a few days ago all was peace and gladness, is overshadowed now in gloom-an affectionate mother, a kind wife, is gone; gone, forever. A deeply afflicted husband and eight little children, are left to mourn their loss.
