Final Rites Held For Mrs. Lona Montgomery Funeral services were held for Mrs. Lona Montgomery at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 1973 at the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Paul Shell officiating. Burial was in the Parsons Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery died on Thursday morning at the Decatur County Hospital. She was born in the Bath Springs Community, the daughter of the late James D. Mayo and Minnie Clenney Mayo. She was married to Oscar Montgomery who preceeded her in death. Mrs. Montgomery was a Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church, Parsons. Mrs. Montgomery was a retired employee of Salant and Salant, having worked there for 31 years. Surviving are three stepsons, Nealous Montgomery, Decaturville, W. R. Montgomery, Bath Springs, Harold Montgomery also of Bath Springs; 2 stepdaughers, Mrs. Carl Butler, Jr., of Decaturville, and Mrs. Frank Martin of Bath Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Jordan of Sevierville, Tenn.; one brother Mr. J. O. Mayo of Nashville; and three sisters, Mrs. Coy Bivins of Bath Springs, Mrs. Robert Wyatt, Saltillo, Tenn., and Mrs. Rada Thomas of Bath Springs, Tennessee. Pallbearers serving at her funeral were Alma Prinn, Keylon Barrett, Max Wilkins, Maxie Doyle, Ray Inman and Buddy Yates. |
