Twin to Mexene. Max R. Butler, born January 8, 1922. Enlisted in the U. S. Army October 8, 1942, and served as half track driver, transporting one rifle squad. Countries served in were Belgium and Germany. Discharged November 14, 1945, with rank of technician fifth grade. Battles in which he participated included Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Awarded the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Ribbon w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star Medal. He is the son of Omer and Violet Butler. Max married Edma Mae and has two children, Doyle Wayne Butler and Sharon Mae (Butler) Brown. Funeral services for Max Ray Butler, 87, were held Monday, November 9, 2009 at Parsons Mortuary Chapel wtih Bro. Don Franks officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Butler passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Grice Butler of Parsons; a son Doyle (Vicki) Butler of Lexington; a daughter, Sharon (Donald) Brown of Lexington; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Violet Ray Butler and Omer Butler; a brother, Glenn Butler; three sisters, Melvie Lomax, Mexene Lomax and Leonie Montgomery; and one great grandchild.
