Note: Melva Jean Keeton Melva Jean Keeton Melva Jean “Mel” Keeton, 88, of St. Augustine, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Bayview Healthcare in St. Augustine. She was a native of Paramus, NJ and had lived in St. Johns County since 1975 coming from Palatka. Mel was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed reading and traveling the world. She loved and lived her life for her children, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Keeton, parents, Louis and Ida Mellon, and sister, Edna Slaughter. She is survived by her son, Donald E. Keeton (Kelly), daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Banks (Gator) both of St. Augustine, grandchildren, Kellie Fortner, Melinda Campbell (Shad), Christy Lowe and Guyla Banks, as well as great-grandchildren, Ava, Alys and Isla. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Rev. Karl Flagg officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children, P O Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438.
