Following the tragic deaths of his parents, John Paul Butler was raised by his widow Aunt Mary and his Uncle Bob who never married. His aunt and uncle lived in the Butler homeplace. In the 1930 census, District 6, Crockett Co. TN, Robert L. Butler, Eliza Butler, Mary Butler and John Paul Butler all live in Dwelling 173. John Paul Butler started collecting coins while in the Army. He amassed a significant coin collection which he later donated to the College of the Ozarks. Compiled by Jerry L.
