DEKALB, Ill. - William F. "Bertrand" Welch Jr., 87, formerly of Wyatt and Bertrand, Mo., died at 7:20 a.m. Jan. 27, 2017.

Born June 21, 1929, in Decaturville, Tenn., to the late Floyd and Druie Welch, he was a heavy equipment operator with A.A. Conte and Son. A member of Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers for more than 50 years, he was also a member of the North Avenue Baptist Church.

He was previously married to Louise Lowry, who survives.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Tara Welch of Moline, Ill.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Evelyn and Sal Fiandaca of Sycamore, Ill., Shirley and Larry Mueller of Key Largo, Fla., Kerry Michelle Mayer of Addison, Ill., and Tracy Welch of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Jessie Johnson of Morning Sun, Iowa; Mary Magee of Sikeston, Mo., Peggy Riley of Wyatt and Sue Welch of St. Louis; and 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Hall; two brothers, James and Eugene "Billy" Welch; and his wives, Eleanor Tatum and Marion Harvey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Temple of Faith Baptist Church of Sikeston.
