Funeral services for Vernell Montgomery, 87, were held Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Bro. Kenneth Sparkman officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery passes away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her home in Daren. Survivors include a son, Michael and Debbie Montgomery of Monroeville, Alabama; a daughter, Nellie Faye and Mike Crews of Darden; four grandchildren, Marcus (Allison) Montgomery, Kim (Patrick) Smith, Lauren (Jimbo) Bishoop, and Morgan Crews; two great grandchildren, Jessilyn Smith and Kayleigh Smith, Austin Kelley and Landon Swindle had a special place in her heart. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Clyde Montgomery; parents, Julia Mae Wallace Nunnery and James Nunnery; two sisters, Berlene Blankenship and Erma Nunnery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Crews, Patrick Smith, Marcus Montgomery, Jim Bishop, Hugh Russell and Don Wallace.
