Dr Janice Butler Turner, PhD
Retired College Professor

Dr. Janice Butler Turner, PhD, entered into rest Monday, February 4, 2013 at Harbor Chase
Assisted Living Facility in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama after an extended illness.

Visitation will be at Platt’s Funeral Home, North Belair Road Chapel on Sunday evening, February 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Graveside Services will be held Monday, February 11, at 12:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia with Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating.

Dr. Turner was born in Lincoln County, Georgia on December 1, 1936 to the late Ellis Raymond and Annie Katherine Blackmon Butler. She retired from Augusta College after serving many years as the
Chairperson of the Chemistry and Physics Departments. She was a graduate of The Academy of Richmond County in 1954, received her BS Degree from GSCW of Milledgeville, Ga. in 1958, her MS from Emory University of Atlanta in 1959 and her PhD in Chemistry from The University of South Carolina.

Dr. Turner was predeceased by her parents and husband, Thomas Albert Turner Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in law Thomas Albert Turner III and Dr. Sheri Ann Fastenrath of Frankewing Tennessee, a sister Joyce Amelia Butler Maxwell of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a brother and sister in law, Larry Raymond and Betty Jo Easler Butler of Martinez, Georgia.

The family would like to offer their thanks to the staff at Harbor Chase Assisted Living Facility for their excellent loving care that was extended to Janice and her family.
