Shared note

Robert L. Presley married Martha Clara Montgomery daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Parker and John Anderson Montgomery. Clara's grandfather, James Montgomery, landed his boat on White Oak Creek in Hardin Co. in 1824 and was a school commissioner in 1840. Robert and Clara Presley bought a farm near the Henderson Decatur Co. line and reared their family. The Presleys with forethought for educating their children gave the land and built a school. The teacher boarded with them. The school was named Presley Ridge School and was located where Presley later built his home and reared two daughters, both school teachers. Presley Ridge Road still runs past the home place which is now owned by descendants Gail and Glenda.
