Thomas G. Wilson

Thomas Gene Wilson, 68, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at his residence in St. Florian. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Elkins Funeral Home, with the rosary beginning at 8 p.m. Father Edward Markley will officiate the graveside service at St. Michaels Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Wilson was a native of Lauderdale County and a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. He was employed at Reynolds Alloys until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Wilson; mother, Gertie Hannah; brother, Paul Wilson; mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pounders; and sister-in-law, Juanita Pounders.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Wilson; sons, Jay and fiance, Margaret Marshall, and Bryan Wilson, of Florence; daughters, Elizabeth Hanback, husband, Eric, Mickie Wilson, all of Florence; one grandchild, Julia Wilson; brothers, J.C., wife, Sandra, Dennis, wife, Bobbie, and Steve Wilson; one sister, Shelia Zills, husband, Kelvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Tim Wilson, Keith Black, Bruce Freeze, Jim Pettus and Mickey Coker. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Gene's coworkers and friends from the Roll Shop of Reynolds Alloys.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Hobbs and his staff for the concern and care given to their loved one, and Robert Pettus and all the housekeepers at ECM Hospital for all the love and support you gave Gene; you are the best.
