From the research of Heather Milam Collazo, who provides much of the information about the first three generations of this family: Rowland's father was Adam Milam who wwas born circa 1744 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth circa 1760 in Virginia. Adam migrated to Bute County, NC (Warren Co. after 1779), and left a will in Warren Co. in 1789. Adam Milam's father was John Milam who was born before 1720 and died in 1789 is South Carolina. He married Judith (Bartlett) Cole circa 1739. From census records it is known that Rowland Milam probably had a daughter born between 1786 and 1790 and two daughters born between 1794 and 1804.
