Shared note

Johnson moved Mary Jane to the Parrish farm at Mousetail where she helped with all the work. They had one child, Thurman Coy Parrish, and when he was very young, about one and one half years old, Johnson cut himself very badly with an axe while chopping wood on the farm. Although it was a serious wound, he refused to see a doctor until it was too late. Not only did he fail to see a doctor but Johnst was a very hard working, industrious man. After a few days he went back to work in the fields of the Parrish farm. Grandma Parish said he came back from the field feeling very weak. She and Johnst's brother, Pitts Parrish called for the doctor but it was too late. He had planned to recover as he had always recovered without any help from anyone but this cut turned gangrene and Johnson died. I believe this was in the spring of 1914. Mary Jane then moved back to Decatur County where her brother, John, helped her eke out a living for Thurman Coy and herself.
