Shared note

Adkisson, Ida Jones

September 1, 1916 Lexington Progress

Mrs. Ada Adkisson, beloved wife of Rev. I. S. Adkisson, of Decaturville, died August 25th, at the home of her husband’s son, Dr. Andrew Adkisson at Merkel, Texas, and the remains were carried back to Decaturville last Sunday, the funeral occurring last Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Adkisson went to Texas four weeks ago on account of the condition of the latter, expecting her to undergo an operation which they discovered could not be performed.

Mrs. Adkisson was the daughter of the late Dr. T. W. Jones of Decaturvillle and was first married to George W. Boggan of Decatur County.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. P. O. Roberts, Mrs. J. F. Aydelott and Mrs. Emma Culp, and by two children, Mrs. Jesse Fryar of Texas and Elsie Boggan of Decatur County. In addition to these is the devoted husband, who has fulfilled to the letter his sacred obligations to her.

Mrs. Adkisson was a woman of rare Christian character, was a member of the Southern Methodist church and of the order of the Eastern Star, who conducted the ceremonies at the funeral.

The remains were accompanied to Decaturville by Mrs. Aydelott of McKenzie and Mrs. P.O. Roberts and Mrs. Rozetta Blount of this place.
