Shared note
|
On July 11, 1882, Mary Carter Butler applied for a pension based on her husbands services to the Union in the Civil War. It states that James M. Butler suffered from heart disease as a result of measles contracted during his service. He died from an apparent heart attack in which he fell from his boat in the Tennessee River and drowned in 2 1/2 feet of water. |
