Zachariah Tuten (Tooten) was born in SC abt 1766, son of William Hall Tuten. Zachariah migrated to Roane Co. Tenn. sometime after 1810. From there all the other Tenn Tuten's came. Some of these Tuten's later migrated to Texas, New Mexico, Alabama, and Mississippi. A prevalence of the family remained in S.C. and migrated much later to Georgia and Florida about 1840.
