"Rev." "Wife and Husband"

Shared note

Posting from ancestry.com I have been doing a little Civil War research and found a questionnaire that was filled out by Isac Samuel Adkisson who was 76 yrs. old at the time he filled this out.

He says that he was born in Decatur Co., TN. That he was a farmer and that his father was a farmer and blacksmith. His father owned about 200 acres in Decatur Co and they lived in a double log house with 3 rooms and the kitchen was extra. He enlisted with the Confederacy the last of Oct. or the 1st of Nov. 1861 in Decaturville and was with the 51st TN Rgt. The 1st battle that he was engaged in was the Battle of Shiloh. Later was detailed to Forrest's Cav. and was in the Battle of Parkers' Crossroads. He was captured at ??? Ferry and taken to Camp Morton Indiana and was there until June 12, 1865 (end of war). On the way home, there was a train wreck and he jumped from the window and wasn't hurt. After coming home he was a local preacher in the M.E. Church South, lived in Decaturville and served as Marshall of his town.

His father was Absolm Adkisson of Perryville, Perry Co., TN (farmer/blacksmith). His mother was Kizie Brasher, dau. of Samuel Brasher and (don't know). Kizie was also from Perryville. The family bible was destroyed during the Civil War and he could not give anymore info re: his ancestors.

In the 1900 census, Elsie Bogan, stepson and Sallie Bogan, step daughter are living in the Isaac S. Adkisson household.

In the 1910 census, Reuben N. Smith, 19, nephew is living in the I. Samuel Adkisson household.
