Wounded In Action (published 1945) Pvt. Earl Nard, of Cloverdale, was wounded March 1 in Ger- many and is recuperating in a hospital in England. He wrote his wife, Mrs. Emma Nard, of Cloverdale, recently that he was receiving the best of care and that he is fine. He also stated that " I don't see how I kept from being killed... The more the shells came the more I would pray and I wasn't the only one." He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nard, Cloverdale, and the father of two daughters, Glenda Sue, aged 3, and Wanda Elaine, aged 1. Pvt. Earl Nard, of Cloverdale who was wounded March 1 in Germany is now in a hospital in England. He wrote this letter to his wife: I will drop you a few lines this morning. X X X I am feeling good today. I got a good night's sleep last night and I am doing as good as ever. I have been reading the Bible every day since I got hurt. I am glad enough that I am living to try to live right. I don't know how I'm living but I am. I don't see how I kept from being killed. I was praying almost all night before I got hit. That was one time I was glad to pray and anybody would have been. Anyone who never thought of the Lord before will when he gets in the spot I was. The more the shells came the more I would pray and I was'nt the only one. The nurses sure are good to us. We have a radio in the ward and books to read. I don't worry about you and the children as I know they are safe from this war. I am praying that it will soon be over so I can come home to you. I want you to take the children to church every time you can if I were there, I would take them." Pvt. Nard is the father of two daughters, Glenda Sue, 3, and Wanda Elaine, one-year-old. He is the huband of Mrs. Emma Nard and son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nard, Cloverdale. Research Of John Russell Butler |
