He married Missy Clark and they attended the Methodist Church. Their children are Mrs. Reba Clenney, Mrs. Ruby Jones, Mrs. Alla Mae Goodwin, Mrs. Anna Lee Creasy, Howard, and the following who are deceased: Mrs. Eva Blankenship, Buford, Purvis, and Norman May 15, 1953 Lexington Progress John A. Montgomery, a lifelong resident of Sardis, passed away suddenly last Monday, May 4th, 1953, with a heart attack. He had been in bad health for a few months but seemed to be improving. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was first married to Miss Clark and she preceded him in death several years ago, and to this union, the following children survive: Norman, Mrs. Bill (Pauline) Watson, Mrs. Perry (Reba) Clenny of Sardis, Mrs. Frank (Eva) Blankenship of Calvert City, Kentucky, Howard of Memphis, Mrs. Tommie (Ruby) Jones, also of Memphis, Purvis of South Carolina, Mrs. Lionel (Alla Mae) Goodwin of Louisiana, and Mrs. Manual (Anna Lee) Creasy of California. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Clara Presley of Sardis and Mrs. Ida Murphy of Scotts Hill. He was married second to Mrs. Clercie Johnson, who survives him. Funeral services were conducted at the Sardis School building. He was buried at Sardis Cemetery by the side of his first wife. |
