Obituary
Mrs. Billie Modlin Box age 90 of Parsons, TN passed away on Tuesday December 22, 2020 at her AHC Decatur County in Parsons, TN.

She was a life long member of Corinth Baptist Church in Darden, TN.

She is survived by her Daughters; Gail (Fonzo) Funderburk of Bath Springs, TN., Wanda (Ronnie) Montgomery of Darden, TN., Cheryl (Tommy) James of Lexington, TN, Sisters; June Craig of Peoria, ILL, Isabelle Hickerson of Parsons, TN, Daughter in Law; Clara Box of Parsons, TN, Grandchildren; Jason Funderburk, Josh Funderburk, Courtney Brown, Justin Montgomery, Carrie Box, Colton Flanagan, Anna James, 7 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Husband; Van L. Box, Mother; Ellen Modlin, Father; Claude Modlin, Son; Larry Box, Brothers; Perry Modlin, Mack Modlin, Sisters; Dorothy Modlin, Lillian Rainey, Marion Modlin.

Visitation with the Box family will be held on Wednesday Dec. 23, 2020 from 12:00PM until time of funeral service. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Dec. 23, 2020 at 1:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Spence Cemetery. Bro. Don Franks officiating.

Due to COVID-19 the family request social distancing as well as mask to be worn during all visitation hours and funeral services. They also request no food be brought during visitation hours and funeral services.

Montgomery inducted

Courtney Montgomery of Parsons, was recently inducted into the Epsilon Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at Middle Tennessee State University.

Courtney is a freshman majoring in Pre-Medicine. She serves as an active member for Alpha Delta Pi and is a member of the many organizations on MSTU's campus.

Courtney is the daughter of Ronnie and Wanda Montgomery of Parsons.

She graduated from Riverside High School in 2001. While in school she was Saluatatorian of her senior class, elected most distingushed and among American High School students.

The Epislon Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Pi is the only sorority on the MTSU campus to offer a scholarship and has received the Most Outstanding Chapter award for 5 years in a row. Sorority members perform volunteer work for the Ronald McDonald House and other local organizations.

Murfreesboro - Middle Tennessee State University has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year.

The following student from Decatur County accepted and MTSU scholarship and is enrolled this fall.

Montgomery Wins $1000.00 Scholarship

Courtney Montgomery was recently awarded a $1,000.00 P. A. Turner Memorial Scholarship Award from the Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation.
