Wednesday, February 4, 2009 Mr. George Addicus Ward, age 84, of the Fortsonia Community died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 11am from Eliam United Methodist Church. Reverend Wes Privett will officiate and internment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The remains will be placed in the church at 10am Saturday to lie in state until the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday night at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Eliam United Methodist Church, 2130 Dr. George Ward Road, Elberton. Mr. Ward served in the United States Navy. He was born in Elbert County to the late Dr. George A. Ward, Sr. and Corinne Dye Ward. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion W. Hudson. He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Iris Ward; daughter Nancy W. (and husband Larry) Bessinger of Elberton; son George A. (his wife Young Ae Ward, III of Seoul South Korea; granddaughter Corrie Elise Bessinger of Commerce; and sisters Laura W. Smith of Elberton, Mary B. Munnel of Athens.
