Mrs. Sarah Butler "Dabba" Jackson, 74, Florence, went to be with the Lord from her home, Thursday, May 22, 2003.
Mrs. Jackson was born into a large family. She loved people and surrounding herself with music and concerned about the lives of others. She always gave others the benefit of the doubt.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, Calvin Jackson, her father, Wesley Butler and mother, Mary Butler, sisters, Gertie Hannah, Kathleen Richardson, and brother, Dalton Butler.Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughters, Patsy Givens, Connie Balentine, Cynthia "Cindy" Jackson, grandchildren, Earl "Niqui" Givens Jr., Amy Terry, Wendie Givens, Samantha DePoyster, Billy "BJ" Ezekiel Jr., Clinton Roper, Curtis Roper, great-grandchildren, Jordan DePoyster, Tian Sean Yeh, Jacealyn DePoyster, Katie DePoyster, Matthew Terry, sister Lila Grissom, brothers, Carlos Butler, Coy Butler and Johnny Butler.
The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence. Her service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Emerald Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ezekiel Jr., Curtis Roper, Clinton Roper, Rusty DePoyster, Bradley Terry and Troy Poague. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Gallego and Tony Stutts.
The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Dr. Lyman Mitchell, nurses of the first floor West at the ECM Hospital and to Hospice of the Shoals nurses and staff.
