Keetons to Celebrate 70th Anniversary

Keeton 70th annivesary

Mr. J. B. Mrs. Lela Keeton will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, December 22, [1999].

The couple were married December 22, 1929, in their home on Largo Rd., in Decaturville and lived there until moving to Decatur County Manor in 1997.

Mr. Keeton worked as a blacksmith and carpenter until his retirement, and Mrs.  Keeton has been a life long homemaker and babysitter to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The couple are the parents of three sons, Bonnie Leon Keeton, who lived with his wife, Nell, close to his parents’ home in Decaturville, until his death in 1997; Paul Rogers Keeton and wife, Frances, and Robert Ben Keeton, both of Palatka, Florida; and one daughter, Bonnie Ruth Keeton Boroughs and husband, William, who live next door to the family homeplace.

They are also the proud grandparents of eight and the great-grandparents of 12.  They have always been called Mamma and Poppa by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and are even known by friends as Mammy and Poppa Keeton.
